Are You Writing Your Website Content for Search Engines or People?
Friday, March 21st, 2008Getting the search engines to rank your site is not all about packing your content as densely as possible with your keywords.
Your page gets rankings by many means, but this old school technique of using keyword density will no longer enhance your rankings with the search engines. And for good reason – it is not in the best interest of your website visitor!
Today, on-site search engine optimization (which is secondary to off-site techniques . . . more about that in a future post) is more about the shell of your page than the content of your page. Google has gotten wise to the fact that spammers will take a keyword and use it too many times in the content in an attempt to get the page ranked high by search engines.
The new school technique is simply to set up the structure of your site correctly so that users come to believe your content is actually relevant to the keywords they are using to search.
We’ll talk more about how to set it up correctly in a separate post.
